Lucinda Thompson Harty

Savannah, GA – Agnes Lucinda Thompson Harty died on February 6, 2014. Lucinda was born in Savannah, Ga. on May 4, 1926. She was predeceased by an infant brother, Joseph H., her parents, Agnes Lucinda McCall, Joseph Henry Thompson and her beloved husband Anthony Harty Jr.
Lucinda was educated at Savannah High School, Class of '44, and then went on to graduate from Randolph Macon Women's College. She majored in English and enjoyed the study of fine arts. Lucinda married Tony in the spring of 1951 after rekindling a relationship that began in kindergarten. They were married for 46 years raising nine children on Isle of Hope and were active communicants of Saint James Catholic Church singing in the choir. She was a supportive figure at St. James Catholic School, Saint Vincent's Academy and former PTO President at Benedictine Military School as well as a sustaining member of the Junior League of Savannah.
Lucinda leaves for her family and friends a legacy of passion for reading, gardening and swimming.
She is survived by her children; Anthony, Jane McCall, Joseph, Genevieve "Veva" Shuman Donnie, Sloan Kat, Cephise, Nick Tamara, Agnes Lucinda Bill, and Margaret Beasley John; grandchildren, Patrick H. Shuman Cathy, Pearson H. Beasley, Dylan K. Harty K.J., Anthony A., John N. and Helen Lucinda Harty as well as great-grandchildren, Ford Mitchell and Emory Elizabeth Shuman, also her sister in law, Jane H. Abbott and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 7, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 5:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to the Isle of Hope Volunteer Fire Department, 409 Parkersburg Rd., Savannah, GA 31406 or J.E.A. Aquatic Center, 5111 Abercorn St., Savannah, GA 31405.
